Tea Time
“…talking about things that are understandable only weighs down the mind and falsifies the memory, but the absurd exercises the mind and makes the memory work.”
~Alfred Jarry
Synopsis
It’s five o’clock in the afternoon. John, the butler, is elegantly preparing the afternoon tea with absolute precision. For Vera, the Lady of the house, this moment is of upmost importance as it helps her remember and imagine a life once lived, a life full of loved ones that now only exist sporadically in her cloudy imagination.
With a fusion of theatre of the absurd, tragicomedy and contemporary circus these two characters live in a reflection of their lives, in a timeless and imprecise place where they relate through a memory of a forgotten life. The beginnings and the ends intertwine demonstrating the cyclical nature of our existence.
This show is an emotional journey in which tragedy and comedy are intimately interlaced.
Nothing seems to make sense but at the same time EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
Tea Time presents a way of reliving our traditions and memories, carefully relating an intimate story showing how people can start to deconstruct without disappearing completely but slowly fading away.
"A homage to our ancestors and all our loved ones that are no longer with us in the present moment"
